St. Croix is America's Best Kept Vacation Secret

Lying to the south of St. Thomas and St. John, St. Croix has its own unique character. It is the largest of the US Virgin Islands and is the only one (except Water Island) that is completely surrounded by the Caribbean Sea. During it's history, St. Croix has flown the flag of seven different nations since Columbus arrived here in 1493, and produced more sugar cane than the other two US islands.

Today, it retains remnants of all these various cultural influences and, because it is the least renown as a tourist destination, has more of a relaxed feel than other Caribbean islands. Relaxed certainly doesn't mean boring, though, as there are lots of things to do on St. Croix.

If your idea of a great vacation destination is a laid-back, un-crowded island with great food, incredible white sand beaches, warm seas full of tropical fish, and lots of interesting things to do, then St. Croix is your dream come true. St. Croix is a well known scuba diving area. In fact, it is rated as one of the ten best scuba islands in the Caribbean.

Like to spend time at the beach, or snorkeling? Many times you will find yourself the only one on the beach here, even during high season, and there are over 20 different beaches to explore. If golf is one of your favorite diversions then you will enjoy St. Croix. There are three golf courses, two 18 hole and one 9 hole. As for nightlife, a quieter and more casual atmosphere prevails on St. Croix, but hot spots for evening entertainment can be found in the towns of Christiansted and Frederiksted.
